• Design and further develop new and existing hyJOIN^® machine systems, modules, and assemblies for thermal direct joining and laser remote surface structuring
• Create detailed designs for automated plant systems, machines, components, tooling, and mechanical interfaces in accordance with machine safety and CE compliance
• Conceptualize, evaluate, test, and implement mechanical solutions integrating mechanics, electronics, pneumatics, and automation components
• Develop and design fixtures, tooling, and customized handling solutions for automated manufacturing systems
• Integrate laser sources, scanners, optics, precision mechanical structures, sensors, and machine-vision elements into machine platforms
• Perform mechanical and thermal calculations, measurements, tests, and performance evaluations
• Drive Design-to-Cost initiatives for cost-optiomized machine layouts, configuratioons, component specifications and sourcing
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation (specifications, interface definitions, BOMs, drawings, offers)
• Feasibility assessments of technical customer requests, requirement evaluation, and project guidance
• Coordinate development activities with suppliers and partners; review and approve drawings, parts, and deliveries
• Provide hands-on support for assembly, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of prototypes and machines

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, or equivalent
• Min. 7 years of experience in mechanical design of special-purpose machinery and automated plant design
• Excellent CAD skills (preferably Autodesk Inventor or equivalent)
• Experience with thermal systems, induction generator design, heating devices, press tools, or laser machinery is a plus
• Strong knowledge of machine safety and CE compliance, including risk assessments
• (EN ISO 12100), safety control systems (ISO 13849 / IEC 62061), and safe mechanical design principles for industrial production equipment
• High level of ownership, hands-on mentality, structured working style
• Resilience, initiative, and willingness to travel occasionally

Application Testing & Validation

• Plan and execute end-to-end tests: from test requests to lab protocols, product trials, and performance validation.
• Validate functionality and performance in diverse application scenarios, products and solutions to clients.

Customer Consulting & Support

• Support customers in selecting the right solution for their specific application.
• Present and demonstrate hyJOIN® products and solutions to clients.
• Advise on integrating hyJOIN® into customer projects.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of equipment.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and challenges.
• Prepare technical specifications, guidelines, and instructions.

Product Customisation & Development

• Adapt existing products to meet special customer requirements.
• Collaborate with development and production teams to design new solutions.
• Rapid CAD prototyping: design and iterate fixtures, tooling, and prototypes.
• Run Data & Simulation activities.
• Build and maintain smart databases for process and performance data to accelerate application development.
• Coordinate projects between customers and internal teams.
• Track project progress and ensure timelines are met.

Documenting & Reporting

• Prepare technical reports, manuals, and presentations.
• Document customer requirements, test results, and solutions.

Market & Competitor Analysis

• Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor products.
• Provide insights to guide product positioning and development.

Collaboration with Sales & Marketing

• Support the creation of technical proposals and presentations.
• Contribute to marketing materials with a technical focus.
• Participate in trade shows and industry events, presenting hyJOIN® solutions and building customer relationships.

R&D & Company Building‍

• Generate new leads; propose new application ideas and design-for-X strategies.
• Act as a hands-on member of our founding team — shaping culture, systems, and early organizational structures.

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science or similar.
• Min. 2-3 years of work experience in application engineering, lab testing, CAD design, and ideally simulation tools.
• Strong skills in customer-facing technical consulting and project coordination.
• Organizational strength for managing lab workflows, projects, and documentation.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work across R&D, sales, and operations.
• Fluent in English; German is a plus.
